Painted in Wellfleet, MA. January 3 "studio overhaul for (self) new 20F." January 4 "(commenced a 20F self portrait in Civil war uniform & cap)". Painted January 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, February 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, "fini self in '65 uniform" (journal). The uniform was purchased many years before at Bannerman's in New York, see fig #. The bugle belonged to Constant. See preparatory drawing of bugle, CR#.
