Drawn in Provincetown, MA, as device for the booklet, writing paper, etc. pf Buffalo's Art
Collectors and Artists Association, founded by Esther Sawyer. It was worked on until August (journal).
To EHS, May 14, 1936, "The sketch for the heading, foolish as it may seem, I just can't get at or do. Sorry to
fall down on this. . . . [am] unable to take on something I am no good at like that." To EHS, February 23,
1937, "Made a weak try, but fell down on the device. . . . I am positively no good at such." Drawing made
before August 17, 1937 when artist Alexander Brook wrote complimenting him on it. [Sawyer letters].
