Drawn in Buffalo, NY, March 17, 25, 27, (journal). Letters to FD, March 4, "Got a 34/52 yesterday for Miss Angell which began this AM." March 9, "Miss Angle [sic] has been ill but I start soon." March 12, "Not going to do an oil of Miss Angel [sic]. A drawing of her with still life composed around it like sister's [Sawyer]". March 26, "P.M. Miss Angell (good start)." March 27, Miss Angell at 1 . . . she had lectured on Emily Dickinson. March 28, ". . . drawing an elab [elaborate] drapery, books, magazines, rose, globe etc around Angell's head. Had little time on her therefore her head looks like a smokey [sic] one blown in amongst the still life". March 30, worked on Miss Angell. To EHS/AWS, June 30, 1931, He "far from saatisfied about the drawing, a great disappointment to me failing on that one. I cant do the drawing again; I suggest this for you and Mrs. Hoyt to think over & accept if wish: pitch the drawing & take the 25/30 'Coast at Wellfleet' instead." He feels an attached brass plaate could be affixed to commemorate Miss Angell's 25 years.
