Notes
Painted in Provincetown, MA. Originally titled "Two Team Piece," also called "The Drinkers." ED is on the right. ED note: "Painted with Henry R. Sutter, a beautiful artist. I painted him and he painted me. I was wearing a fur cap [which belonged to artist's father at Amherst 1874-1879] and shawl and he was wearing a complete set of oilskins with a scarf and a red tam o'shanter. A heavily painted piece. We signed it Dmitri Vasclav, a combining of the names of two professional friends, Dmitri Romanovsky, a beautiful painter, and our chum Vaclav Vytlacil, which was exhibited: in P'town [Provincetown] Art Association under this name. We thought it a good prank. Nobody was fooled." Note, 1999, HDB told there were people who were fooled.
