Notes
Painted in St. Tropez, France, in April or May as a gift to the Parmenters (journal). Dick (Richard) and Belle (Isabella) are portrayed at left as newlyweds attending a Concert Touche at which they are so absorbed embracing that they neither hear the music nor see the fully displayed nude. Nor do they see the newspaper of the man immediately to their right which reads: "Petit Journal / Paris / Parmenter / Gagner / Loterie" [Parmenter Wins Lottery]. Dick and ED became fast friends when they met January 3 at the Closerie de Lilas, Paris.
