Painted in New York, NY, as part of a large self portrait, see CR#. ED was dissatisfied with the
portrait and cut it up saving the head (Collection Dr. Alexander Halperin) and the image of his
grandmother's vase. Journal, April 11, 1951 "took still life blue & white pitcher from self-portrait 43-33 of last
year (destroyed) to the Academy for my academicians diploma."
