Notes
Painted in Wellfleet, MA, January 9 began "still life of pines and microscope." Continued 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 30, 31, February 1, 2. Painting not completed until after October 15,1942, when he set up microscope again and painted October 17, 19, 20 (journal). Painting has a clear"patch" of new paint at the center on which the microscope is painted.
