Notes
Painted in Wellfleet, MA, September 6 (journal) at the Cove. Subject is ED's catboat, the "Morning" also called the the "85" which was the number of the Nantucket Light Vessel on which he served. in World War I. The painting has been dated "1942" but is itself undated and the signature was added in pencil some years later. There is no evidence it was painted in 1942 but the ED journal shows it was painted in 1940.
