Painted in Provincetown, MA, September 2 he looking for a model. September 3, 4, 5, 6 ( journal),he painted Jane Bryant, a medical student visiting Provincetown who posed for several artists. ED's viola is seen at right. It was a bright orange which he later tried to darken. (FD note). August 16, 1949, a hole was "poked" through the paintng while at the PAA and which the PAA had repaired.
