Painted in New York, NY at Art Students League,during ED's second week in the Chase class.
When first seen by Mr. & Mrs. Davis, they suggested the apple alone would make a nice painting. ED
acted on this suggestion and cut it out making a piece about 7 1/4 x 11 5/8" and applied a patch
of wet paint on which to sign, date and inscribe. Mr. & Mrs. Davis bought the "Apple" and took the remainder of the painting as well. ED thought better of having cut out the apple and Mr. Davis accordingly had the painting restored to its original state.
