I am painting him in a large canvass [sic], holding Mathesons cat 'Groesbeck,' [for Herbert Groesbeck] with Mary Nunes, Charlie a boy, [?], a little red haired girl [Doris Bryant] & an old lady [Mrs. Marks]." George Whorf is the guitarist, and George Allen is on the left.
To Tibi, February 16, 1916: "I think it [scarf she knitted] is a beauty; just the right arrangement of black, white and gray. I have used it alreaady in my large canvas . . .This morning I went out bright and early (and frozen) to secure a cat . . I found one and carried it in my arms with a couple of grocery packages as far as the top step leading to our balcony where I fell down. The puss diving through the steps into a drift . . . ran swiftly home."
