Notes

Painted near Niagara Falls, Ontario, May 30, 1937. "At the falls I painted standing & palette on ground . . .", letter to FFD, June 1, 1937. January 11, 1970, (journal), "Esther H Sawyer drove me to Niagara Falls. I took painting gear & a canvas. It was Decoration Day fair & warm. On the Canadian side a little back of the great brink I set up & did a good little piece looking toward the rising mist of the Canadian Horseshoe Fall. . . . I failed to take it with me when we left Buffalo." He meant to keep it.
