[J. Ward, p 117] Quotes letter to Esther, June 13, 1933 saying he has for sale "a 40/50 of a vessel mongst rocks, unfinished, about 15 sittings, promising and was done in a rest-lull from the large canvas [W. Scene] on which [I] resumed work and never got back to the vessel - a good sized piece. Several people who have seen it didn't know that it was not yet finished, I doubt if I will ever do anything more to it, it might suit Mr. Kimball and would look lively on a wall - boat, smoke, ice and rocks. Done about 2 1/2 years ago - I mentioned it in a letter at that time."
