Painted in Provincetown, MA, December 27, 28, 29, 31, (journal), 46 Pearl Street. ED note: "She was the very paintable daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Miller, [a painter, 1875-1943] a very famous man in New York, Paris and Chicago some years ago." Elsbeth died of tuberculosis, January 14, 1928 (journal). ED at her burial in Truro, April 26, 1928 (journal). July 2, he to her grave. Often said to have been painted Christmas Day; actually panted at Christmas time.
